The radiant cut at 9.45ct DEW combines the elongated shape of a step-cut stone with the full 70-facet brilliant-cut light performance of a round — producing a stone that has both visual size and maximum sparkle.
The radiant cut was created in 1977 specifically to bring brilliant-cut fire performance to rectangular and square shapes. Unlike the emerald cut (step cut, fewer facets), the radiant has approximately 70 facets arranged in a brilliant pattern across its rectangular form. This produces maximum light dispersion — rainbow fire — across a larger surface area than a round brilliant of comparable weight. At 9.45ct DEW and approximately 15.5×11.5mm, this ring produces animated fire across a stone surface area significantly larger than most engagement rings.
