The Asscher cut's concentric square step facets create a distinctive geometric tunnel effect; in champagne moissanite at 9.3ct DEW, those tunnels are filled with warm cognac colour at extraordinary scale.
The Asscher cut was designed in 1902 by Joseph Asscher of Amsterdam for maximum depth and geometry — its signature "hall of mirrors" effect comes from the way its step facets reflect each other in diminishing squares toward the center of the stone. At 9.3ct DEW, the stone measures approximately 14×14mm — each of the concentric square facets becomes a large, visible geometric element in its own right. The Asscher at this size creates a ring that reads as a piece of Op Art — pure geometry producing a visual experience that neither round brilliants nor elongated step cuts can replicate.
In a colourless Asscher cut, the hall-of-mirrors effect creates reflections of white light. In a champagne Asscher, the warm cognac body colour of the stone fills those reflective tunnels with colour — the diminishing squares toward the center transition from the warm champagne surface to deeper, concentrated colour in the stone's depth. The result is genuinely three-dimensional in visual character, unlike any other cut-colour combination. At 9.3ct with 14×14mm of square geometry, the champagne colour and the Asscher architecture work together to create one of the most visually unusual rings available anywhere.
