At 7.65ct DEW, a round moissanite produces a diameter of approximately 12.8mm — a stone that creates intense, animated sparkle at a scale that commands immediate attention on the hand.
This is a technically verifiable claim. Moissanite has a refractive index of 2.65–2.69, compared to diamond's 2.42. A higher refractive index means more light is bent inside the stone before exiting — producing more brilliance (white light return). Moissanite also has a dispersion (fire) value of 0.104, versus diamond's 0.044 — meaning moissanite produces 2.4× more rainbow fire than diamond of equivalent cut quality. At 7.65ct DEW in the round brilliant, both of these properties are operating at maximum scale. The round brilliant cut is mathematically optimised for light performance — combined with moissanite's superior optical properties, this ring produces more sparkle than any natural round diamond of comparable size.
At 7.65ct DEW and 12.8mm diameter, this stone is best complemented by a simple, clean setting that allows maximum light to enter and exit the stone from all angles. A classic 4 or 6-prong solitaire basket setting in yellow gold (complementing the 18K gold vermeil) is the most appropriate choice — it holds the stone securely while minimising metal coverage of the stone's perimeter. Halo settings at this size are generally unnecessary (and arguably counterproductive — the stone is large enough that a halo adds visual clutter rather than enhancement).
